Nat G CNG Solutions is introducing the DuraDrive bi-fuel CNG system from AGA Systems into Texas and Louisiana. DuraDrive brings AGA System’s bi-fuel CNG technology to the 2013 General Motors and Isuzu adaptable chassis platforms powered by the 6.0L gaseous prep engine. The system is available for both above and below 14,000 GVW vehicle classes. B&L Yellow Cab of Broward County, Fla. has signed a multi-year Canada Mobile Database contract to deploy DriveCam fleet-wide to 600 vehicles. The decision comes after a 110-vehicle trial period that resulted in an over 70 percent reduction in claims, the companies say. DriveCam combines data and video analytics with real-time driver feedback and coaching, resulting in cost reductions, lower emissions and increased fuel efficiency by up to 12 percent, DriveCam says. Greyhound Lines announced plans to deploy DriveCam across its entire fleet of more than 1,700 buses earlier this year. Last September, Waste Management said it will deploy DriveCam’s fuel management program across its entire fleet, about 18,000 vehicles, for a five-year service contract term.
Greyhound Lines has ordered more than 220 new diesel buses from Motor Coach Industries and Prevost. The company says this is its largest bus order in more than 20 years. The order includes 130 D4505 buses from MCI and 90 X3-45 buses from Prevost, all of which are outfitted with DriveCam. Greyhound say, with this latest order, its fleet will become one of the youngest and most environmentally friendly in the industry.
Ford Motor Company has announced a four-cylinder 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine will join its lineup of fuel-efficient powertrains. EcoBoost technologies enable improvements to both fuel efficiency of 20 percent and emissions of up to 15 percent, Ford says. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost is the first engine from Ford to incorporate a computer-controlled clutch on the belt-drive water pump, which the automaker says further improves efficiencies by reducing warm-up time. The engine will be first introduced in China in the Ford Mondeo, making its public debut later this month at Auto Shanghai 2013, with applications following in the Fusion sedan in North America this year, and later the new Mondeo in Europe.
